The numbers for streaming change all the time. They almost never go up when an artist is having a bad time, though. It does happen once every blue moon, but there are a few exceptions. Indeed, Diddy is one of those people whose streaming numbers are going up, as reported by Luminate (via TMZ). The well-known data and analytics business says there’s been an 18.3% rise since he was arrested and charged. As of this writing, just over 9.7 million people listen to him every month on Spotify. There are several possible reasons for this, so let’s take a quick look at them.

One reason could be that people on the internet are looking for any kind of revealing words or themes in his music. Hip-hop sleuths are finding and looking at a lot of old clips from conversations, TV shows, and other places. Those same people might be looking at his huge discography. Another possibility is that he has a lot of loyal fans who like to “separate the artist from the person.”

Kanye West might not be the best person to compare them to. But because he’s constantly making things worse, it does deserve some thought. Fans will always be there for him because he’s so famous. Although Diddy isn’t as good or hasn’t had as many hits as Ye, he has a lot of power generally. Besides the win in his case against a Michigan prison, this might be Diddy’s last small W.
