Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese arrive for WNBA All-Star Game as rivals-turned-teammates prepare to join forces in Phoenix

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are in the house as the star WNBA rookies prepare to put their bitter rivalry to one side and team up in tonight’s All-Star Game. Amid their intense battle for Rookie of the Year, Clark and Reese are set to join forces on Team WNBA as they look to mark their first All-Game appearances with a win over USA Basketball.

The Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky sensations arrived at the Footprint Center just under two hours before the showpiece gets underway, with both looking glamorous as they made their grand entrances. Clark rocked up at the arena along with Indiana teammates Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, while Reese was unaccompanied. On the eve of Saturday’s All-Star Game, the Chicago forward joked that she will be friends with Clark ‘for one day’ as she becomes teammates with her on-court nemesis.

‘That’s what everybody wants to see,’ Reese told ESPN. ‘I’m looking forward to it. Everybody can wear their “Get Along” shirts together for one day, at least.’ She added: ‘We haven’t had a talk yet, obviously everybody can cheer for us both for one day – it’s going to be cool. I’m excited, this is going to be the first of many. ‘We’re going to be on All-Star teams together in the future, Olympic teams together (holds up crossed fingers) in the future too. I’m just excited just to be here in this moment. I’m happy.’

Clark, meanwhile, had nothing but respect for Reese after the two practiced together on Friday. ‘It’s super rare to be here as a rookie and then to have two of us is really great overall,’ the Fever star said. ‘I think it’s going to continue to help grow the game.’ She also backed her rival rookie to dominate Saturday’s All-Star Game in one key area, adding: ‘She’s probably gonna lead the game in rebounds. I expect that out of her. That’s just what she does.’

Despite the friendliness towards one another on Friday, just hours before the all-important showpiece a day later Reese appeared to take a thinly-veiled swipe at Clark along with Chicago teammate Chennedy Carter. While Clark wasn’t directly mentioned in the online interaction between the Sky duo, Carter implied that she’ll only tune into the high-profile matchup against Team USA’s women’s Olympic basketball team to watch her WNBA colleague play. ‘Watching for barbie and barbie only #WNBAAllStar,’ Carter posted on X.

Reese replied: ‘you should be here but i’m playing for you today CHENDOLL!’ Back in June, Carter and Reese sparked outrage by laughing together after the former shoved Clark to the ground in their game against the Fever. That body-check incident proved highly controversial as many argued that Clark was the victim of brutal treatment on the court from rival players.
