Congratulations are in order for Brittney Griner and her wife, Cherelle Griner!
The WNBA star revealed they welcomed their first child together, a boy, in their Friday interview with CBS Sports.
Their new bundle of joy arrived weighing 7 pounds and 8 ounces on July 8.

“That’s my man. He is amazing,” Brittney, 33, told the outlet. “They said as soon as you see them, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window. That’s literally what happened.”
The basketball player will soon be traveling overseas to represent Team USA for the third time during the 2024 Paris Olympics, so Brittney (who’s choosing to go by “Pops” with the baby) will be spending some time away from the her newborn son.
“It kind of sucks because I have to leave, but at the same time, he will understand,” Griner shared.

Brittney also explained how becoming a parent has changed her life — or rather, her phone.
“My whole phone has turned into him now,” she said.
The pair revealed they were expecting in April with an Instagram post showing off an ultrasound picture as they locked hands showing off their matching tattoos.
“Can’t believe we’re less than three months away from meeting our favorite human being 🤍 #BabyGrinerComingSoon #July2024,” the caption at the time read.

The baby news comes a month after she and wife Cherelle celebrated their sixth anniversary together.
Cherelle marked the occasion with a sweet message for her wife coupled with a photo carousel filled with throwback images on Instagram.
“Happy 6th Anniversary baby! Since you popped it off with the college oldies … I decided to follow your lead with some archives!” she wrote.
“Looking back over these memories, i’m reminded of why I’d choose you over and over again! You keep a smile on my face and you’re literally present for any and everything! Lol I love you so much 🤍.”
