Animnapung araw na suspension na walang suweldo ang parusang ipinataw ng House of Representatives kay Cavite Fourth District Congressman Kiko Barzaga ngayong Lunes, Disyembre 1, 2025.

Napatunayang may sala o guilty sa disorderly conduct si Barzaga dahil sa kanyang mga social media post na ipinabubura rin sa loob ng 24 oras.

Inakusahan si Barzaga ng paglabag sa Code of Conduct dahil sa mga Facebook post niya na hindi umano angkop at kawalang-galang sa mga opisyal ng gobyerno.

Tila naghihikayat din umano siya ng pagsunog sa House of Representatives sa pamamagitan ng pagsasabi sa publiko na huwag sunugin ang Kamara hangga’t hindi naiaalis ang mga dokumento at hindi nakaaalis ang mga empleyado.

Ayon kay 4P’s Party-list Representative JC Abalos, chairman ng Committee on Ethics and Privileges: “His actions reflected negatively upon the dignity, integrity, and reputation of the House of Representatives as an institution of the members of the House individually and collectively.

“Consequently, the committee finds respondent, Rep. Kiko Barzaga of the 4th district of Cavite guilty of disorderly behavior by violating Sec. 141 (a) Rule 20 of the Rules of House of Representatives, 4(c) of RA 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.”

Sinabi rin ni Abalos na mas matindi ang parusang ipapataw nila kay Barzaga kapag inulit nito ang ginawang pagkakamali.

BARZAGA ACCEPTS SUSPENSION

Tinanggap ni Barzaga ang parusa sa kanya, pero nanindigan siyang dapat panagutan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang mga krimen umano nito.

Facebook post niya: “I wholeheartedly accept the decision of the committee, but I maintain my stance that President Marcos must be held accountable for his crimes.

“Too many people have died, and too much money was plundered from the Filipino people for us to stand down now.

“Whatever punishment may fall upon me and others who stand against this president, who has lost his constitutional mandate of serving the people is inconsequential in relation to the number of lives and futures that will be saved once President Marcos leaves the Malacañang.

“It took the deaths and imprisonment of hundreds of thousands to bring Marcos Senior to justice, my punishment is only the beginning of our fight against the corrupt Marcos administration. May mensahe rin si Barzaga para sa Ethics Committee na nagsabing “unethical” ang kanyang mga pahayag tungkol sa Pangulo ng bansa.

Saad niya: “They said my statements against President Marcos was unethical, but they never said it was untrue. Marcos will experience a repeat of history, not just like his father, but also like the other dictators who came before him!

“When you steal and kill the people that you are constitutionally mandated to serve, then you will face the retribution of both God and Country!”

LEVISTE AND PADILLA REACT TO BARZAGA’S SUSPENSION

Nakisimpatiya kay Congressman Kiko Barzaga si Batangas First District Representative Leandro Leviste, anak ni Senator Loren Legarda.

Kabilang si Leviste sa mga hindi bumoto para sa suspensiyon ng kanyang kapwa kongresista.

Bahagi ng kanyang pahayag sa Kongreso: “Mahiya naman tayo na inuna natin ang suspension ni Cong. Barzaga kaysa sa ating kasamahang iniuugnay sa pagnanakaw ng bilyun-bilyong piso sa DPWH na hindi iniimbestigahan ng Kongreso.

“Ang boto ko ay ‘No.’ Hindi dahil perpekto si Congressman Barzaga, pero dahil kwestiyonable sa akin na minadali itong desisyon dahil ngayong hapon lang natin nakuha ang committee report na ito, at si Congressman Barzaga lang ang sinampahan ng kaso ng Committee on Ethics.

“Ang boto ko ay ‘No’ lalo na dahil inuuna natin ang kaso niya kaysa sa mga mas seryosong isyung kinakaharap ng isa sa mga kasamahan natin—isang kapwa kong Batangueño na nandito ngayon na bumoto sa kaso ni Congressman Barzaga.

“Hindi ba nakakahiya maging miyembro ng Kongreso dahil parang nagiging normal na mayroon tayong isang kasamahan na inaakusahan ng nagbayad para sa mahigit PHP100 bilyong kontrata sa DPWH.

“Para bang tinatanggap natin na normal lang magkaroon ng kasamahang iniuugnay sa pagnanakaw ng bilyun-bilyon piso, na hindi iniimbestigahan ng Committee on Ethics, Public Works, o InfraComm — samantalang inuuna natin ang kaso ni Congressman Barzaga.

“Habang hindi man lang natin pinaglalaanan ng masusing atensiyon ang mas mabigat na alegasyon, lumalabas na parang ok lang magnakaw sa Kongreso.

“Nakatala na sa kasaysayan na, sa gitna ng matinding kontrobersiya sa korapsyon, ito ang inuna ng Kongreso, at parang lang walang mali sa ginagawa ng isa sa ating kasamahan, at tayo mismo ay ngayon sumisisira sa imahe ng Kongreso. Mahiya naman tayo.”

Sa pamamagitan ng Facebook, inilabas ni Senator Robin Padilla ang kanyang saloobin tungkol sa parusang ipinataw kay Barzaga.

Aniya: “Suspended si Congressman Barzaga dahil sa kanyang mga nasabi patungkol sa kakulangan at kalabisan ng gobyerno na kinabibilangan namin pati rin sa makabagong mga suhestiyon para sa ikauunlad ng bansa.”
