It seems that Ilocos Sur’s former governor Luis “Chavit” Singson has once again found himself in the middle of a hot showbiz controversy. Known for his charisma, wealth, and charm — and for being unapologetically open about his fondness for younger women — Singson has long been associated with various female celebrities. But this time, the spotlight shines on someone much younger: Kapuso actress Jillian Ward, the former child star turned successful young entrepreneur.
For weeks, whispers have been circulating online about a supposed romantic link between the 19-year-old actress and the 83-year-old politician. Some gossip pages even went as far as claiming that Jillian’s “lavish lifestyle” — including her grand 18th birthday celebration at Cove Manila in Okada, estimated to have cost a staggering ₱51 million — was allegedly funded by a wealthy “benefactor.”

The extravagant debut, themed Galaxy Celestial Ball, featured an opulent gown designed by Mak Tumang and a guest list of more than 800 people, including top GMA executives and major stars. Photos and videos from the event flooded social media, leaving netizens both impressed and skeptical.
Soon after, blind items began surfacing — hinting at a young actress with a “powerful and influential admirer.” Many were quick to connect the dots and drag Jillian Ward’s name into the rumor mill, with fingers pointing toward none other than Chavit Singson.
However, Jillian was quick to shut down the allegations. In an interview last year, she spoke with calm confidence, clearly hurt by the accusations:
“I think everything I have, I deserve through my hard work. I’ve been working since I was a baby. People should stop believing fake news.”
She went on to recall how she started acting at just four years old, appearing in commercials and TV series long before she even knew how to read.
“Underage pa lang ako, ang dami nang misconceptions about me. It’s unfair. People don’t see the years of effort, they only see the results,” she added.
Jillian also shared a deeply personal revelation about her early life — that her mother once considered not continuing her pregnancy due to fear and financial struggle. “I just want to prove to her that she made the right choice,” Jillian said tearfully. “Now I’m working hard to give her the life she deserves.”
Indeed, Jillian has been known not only as a TV personality but also as a young businesswoman. In 2019, she opened her own milk tea business, Wonder Tea Philippines, in Pampanga — which has since expanded to multiple branches. The following year, she invested in her own three-story house, complete with a walk-in closet, home theater, and jacuzzi, proving that her wealth wasn’t handed to her — it was earned.
Still, the online chatter refused to die down. Many netizens refused to believe that a teenager could afford such luxury without “outside help.” The resurfacing of old gossip earlier this month once again linked her name to Chavit, sparking heated discussions on Facebook and TikTok.

When asked about the issue, Chavit Singson himself finally broke his silence — and his response was as blunt as ever.
“Maritest lang ‘yan,” he said with a laugh. “Marami talagang gustong idawit ang pangalan ko. I hear these stories all the time. It’s all gossip.”
He added that while he’s been romantically linked to various women in the past, people should stop assuming there’s always something going on. “Marami ngang nali-link sa akin pero puro maritest yan,” he repeated.
Interestingly, Chavit did admit in the same interview that he is “actively looking for a life partner.”
“Talagang naghahanap ako ngayon ng pwedeng mapakasalan, para may mag-aalaga naman sa akin. Kahit sino, basta maganda ang puso,” he said.
This statement fueled even more online speculation, as some fans wondered if Jillian could have caught the attention of the aging politician.
Singson’s colorful romantic history only added fuel to the fire. He has been known for several high-profile relationships over the years. His first marriage, to Evelyn Singson, produced seven children before ending in separation. He later entered a 17-year common-law partnership with Rachel Chongson, which ended in controversy after allegations of physical abuse in 2009. Following that, Chavit introduced Josephine Pintor in 2012 — a woman he reportedly met when she was just 14 years old. That relationship, too, ended due to Josephine’s alleged drug problems.
Given this background, it’s easy to see why many were quick to believe the rumors about his supposed connection with Jillian. However, both parties have categorically denied any romantic involvement.
Insiders close to Jillian claim that she was “deeply upset” by the accusations, describing her as emotional but composed. “She’s young, but she’s smart enough to handle this. She knows that fame comes with rumors — she just wishes people would see the truth.”
As of now, Jillian’s management team, Sparkle GMA Artist Center, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the renewed controversy. Sources say that the network is “closely monitoring” the situation to protect their young star’s image.
Meanwhile, social media remains divided. Some netizens defend Jillian, praising her for her professionalism and hard work:
“She started as a child star — she’s earned everything she has!”
Others, however, continue to speculate, saying, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”
Regardless of which side people take, one thing is clear: this story has once again highlighted the dark side of fame, where a young actress’s achievements can easily be overshadowed by baseless gossip.
At the end of the day, Jillian Ward’s journey — from diaper commercials to a successful career and business ventures — stands as proof that dedication and perseverance can take someone far, even in an industry clouded by judgment and jealousy.
And as for Chavit Singson? The veteran politician seems unfazed, brushing off the rumors with his usual charm and confidence. “Sanay na ako diyan,” he said. “As long as I know the truth, I don’t mind what people say.”
Whether this controversy will fade away or spark another wave of speculation remains to be seen. But for now, both Jillian and Chavit seem determined to move forward — one focused on her rising career, and the other perhaps still looking for “the one.”
