“I got to stand up every hour” – When Aaron Judge shared his massive size giving him problems riding the team bus
New York Yankees Star Aaron Judge
During the 2013 MLB Draft, the New York Yankees selected Aaron Judge in the first round with the 32nd overall selection. After tearing his quadriceps femoris muscle in 2013, he made his professional debut the following year.
In 2014, Judge started turning heads, showing off the potential power he had at the plate. and standing at 6-foot-7, he struck fear into the opposing pitchers he faced in the minor leagues.
However, his size would become an inconvenience at times. He sat down with YES Network’s Matthew Stucko to detail how being the biggest guy in the room can come with its disadvantages.
“I got to stand up every hour or so, but it’s not too bad. Once I fall alseep I’m good, it’s just getting to fall asleep is the hardest part,” said Judge.
Judge detailed just how big he felt during the bus trips and the difficulties that had on him. As a minor leaguer, he did not have the luxuries that are flying, and MiLB teams travel quite a bit by bus.
“Chipotle is always a must for everybody. So, I’m just trying to get used to to it, but it’s a long season, so hopefully, I learn here in the next couple weeks” said Judge.
It is not all bad for the slugger. He mentions just like in college, the team trips to Chipotle always hit the spot.

While dozens of MLB players could have gone pro in other sports, Aaron Judge is no different. Outside of baseball, Judge was a leader on the basketball team and was a star football player.
Multiple colleges recruited Judge to play football for them, and these schools were no pushovers. Notre Dame, UCLA, and Stanford all tried to sign the slugger, but he instead chose to pursue a baseball career.
Judge went on to play baseball at Fresno State. He helped them qualify for the 2011 NCAA tournament and won the 2012 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby.
He spent three seasons at Fresno State before the Yankees drafted him in 2013. After that, it did not take him on to make his MLB debut. Judge made his MLB debut on Aug. 13, 2016. In his very first at-bat, he hit a home run, warning everyone what was to come.
