The last time the New York Yankees won a World Series championship, Aaron Judge was playing college baseball without a hint of what future holds for him. He was drafted by the Yanks in 2013 and made his debut in 2017. Since then, Judge has been the best hitter to ever exist in modern-day MLB.
However, beyond the personal milestone lies an ultimate dream that is yet to be fulfilled. Aaron Judge is desperate to achieve the unfinished business, i.e., win a World Series ring for that New York City that shaped his life. Ahead of ALDS, Judge poured his heart out of his October feelings.

It’s been 11 years since the New York Yankees drafted Aaron Judge, and throughout his career, he’s been deeply ingrained in the franchise’s championship-driven culture. From his time in A-ball to now, Judge has absorbed the Yanks’ “World Series or bust” mentality.” “Ever since I’ve been a Yankee, it’s always been about winning in New York,” he said. His mindset, even before joining the team, was always focused on becoming a champion. Despite his personal accolades, the captain feels the weight of the franchise’s 15-year title drought, particularly since he’s been unable to translate his regular-season success into postseason glory. While his regular-season feats have been remarkable, his October performance has left much to be desired.
Moreover, since 2020, Aaron Judge has struggled in the postseason, batting just .135, and those struggles continued in Game 1 of the ALDS against the Royals, where he went 0-for-4. Still, Aaron Judge carries the burden of the team’s failures. He feels responsible when the team falls short and has often shouldered blame, including after a rough postseason in 2022. While Judge’s place in Yankees history is already secured with his record-breaking home runs and leadership, he knows that winning a championship would solidify his legacy. This season, Judge has again put himself in a prime position to achieve that goal, partnering with Juan Soto to form a powerful offensive duo. But for Judge, it’s about getting the Yankees back to the top. Hence, as the team pushes forward, Judge is more determined than ever to turn his October fortunes around and finally deliver a championship for the Bronx.

After finishing the regular season with the best record in the American League and securing home-field advantage throughout the postseason, the New York Yankees started their playoff run with a 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals in Game 1 of the ALDS held in front of a packed Yankee Stadium.
However, Aaron Judge’s postseason struggles continued. The Yankees’ captain went 0-for-4 at the plate, striking out three times and drawing one walk. Notably, since 2020, Aaron Judge has hit .135 in the postseason, going 10-for-74 with five home runs and 28 strikeouts over 18 games. Ahead of Game 2, the spotlight will remain on Judge as he tackles steep challenges against the Royals.
