It has been more than a month since superstar actress and singer Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from actor Ben Affleck, bringing an end to their tumultuous wo-year marriage. The couple decided to tie the knot in 2022, reuniting nearly 20 years after their early-2000s engagement was called off. Now, Affleck and Lopez — who did not sign a prenuptial agreement — are engaged in an increasingly-nasty divorce process, with millions upon millions of dollars in assets up for grabs.

Lopez has been divorced three times before, so she is no stranger to the difficulties of this process — emotionally as well as legally. And according to an insider, J. Lo‘s separation from Affleck is the final nail in the coffin of her old way of living.

Even at 55 years old, Lopez understands that life is what you make it — and she has made a big decision not just about Affleck, but about living for herself after four marriages, three of which did not last five years.

“Friends and family have noticed a major shift — she’s finally ready to move on,” an insider revealed to Life & Style. “She decided to do some introspection — she says four divorces will do that. Get ready for an all new J. Lo — she wants to start a new chapter.”

Lopez — who once had the #1 album and the #1 movie in the United States, at the same time — has had a difficult 2024 professionally as well as personally. Her science fiction film “Atlas” was a flop; her latest album, “This Is Me… Now“, sold fewer than 15,000 copies in its first week, and she later canceled the tour built around it. Those events have made J. Lo more introspective and honest personally.

“She’s been making candid confessions about Ben and his struggles, how they added to their problems,” the insider said. “She didn’t want him to relapse so she was super overprotective. That backfired by making him resentful, adding more stress to their marriage. Now, Ben is panicking. He’s afraid she’s sharing too much and is making him look like the bad guy in the relationship.”

While their divorce is going to take a while to unspool, it seems that Lopez is embracing a life without Affleck — despite their continued sexual attraction to one another. It will be tough, but Lopez is letting it be known that this experience has changed her for the better.
