The Indiana Fever had Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell represent their franchise at the 2024 WNBA All-Star game. While all three players were competing for Team WNBA, fans shared a definitive opinion of the trio’s All-Star game head coach, Cheryl Miller.
WNBA fans believe Miller should replace Fever head coach Christie Sides. Indiana’s second-year head coach has been under fire all season, and fans believe Miller fits the mold to develop the team’s young core with Clark and Boston.
“Cheryl Miller, Aaliyah Boston, and Caitlin Clark would be absolute magic together!!” said one fan.
“She was with them 3 days and they all called her Coach. Not Cheryl or Coach Miller, just Coach like she’s the definition,” said another.
“Idc what reggie have to do…get sis the head coaching job asap!!!! she played cc better in 1 game than sides in all those games,” commented another.
At the beginning of the season, Sides received backlash for her alleged mismanagement of Clark’s development. With the rookie seen as the future of the franchise, fans called for her firing very early in the season.
Clark is currently averaging 17.1 points and 8.2 assists per game. She punched her ticket to the WNBA All-Star game in her first year in the league, but the issue with the rookie has been her efficiency.
The first-year star is shooting 32.7% from three-point range and 40.5% from the field. Many fans think Sides’ offensive game plan doesn’t suit Clark and the Fever, resulting in their stance on her firing.
Indiana currently stands as the No. 7 team in the Eastern Conference standings with an 11-15 record.
As shown in the 2024 WNBA All-Star game, Miller would be able to deploy a free-flowing offense with Clark as the playmaker getting Mitchell and Boston involved.
Miller has experience in the WNBA, having coached the Phoenix Mercury from 1997-2000. She was also an elite player in the past, winning two National Titles in the 1980s with the USC Trojans.
She’d be able to bring a different perspective to the Fever, which fans believe would be extremely beneficial.
At the finale of the WNBA All-Star game, where Team WNBA defeated Team USA 117 to 109, Clark finished the game with four points and 10 assists. Boston recorded four points and two rebounds, while Mitchell notched 13 points and two steals.
