Have you ever experienced an awkward situation where two people who know each other realize that they once dated the same person? Well, we can only wonder what is going through the minds of Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton.
On Tuesday, the New York Yankees acquired 2019 National League MVP Cody Bellinger in a blockbuster trade with the Chicago Cubs, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan. In return, the defending AL champs are sending right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet to Windy City.
Normally, a big-named player like Bellinger coming to a World Series contender would mean good morale in the clubhouse, right? Well, Stanton and Bellinger may need to have a talk before spring training arrives.
At the end of the day, we’re sure there won’t be any significant animosity between the two former NL MVP winners. After all, they share the same goal of delivering a 28th World Series ring to the Bronx next year.
Cody Bellinger Is A Savvy Pickup For Yankees
Losing out on Juan Soto to the rival Mets hurts, but credit Yankees GM Brian Cashman for staying aggressive to bolster his team’s title chances. He traded for Milwaukee Brewers superstar closer Devin Williams and grabbed another stud starting pitcher, Max Fried, in free agency.
With Cody Bellinger joining the lineup, the Yankees offense will still be a top-tier group without Soto.
