NBA superstar LeBron James and his son Bronny James stepped on the court together for the first time on Sunday in a preseason game against the Phoenix Suns. It was a historic moment but after Bronny finished with zero points and four turnovers, there were questions about his level of play. James recently went as far as blocking a parody account on X after a Bronny-related fake news post.

“NBACentel,” with approximately 126,100 followers, made a post on Saturday where it shared an image and claimed it was from LeBron James’ Instagram account. The post included a picture of Bronny in full Lakers uniform and a message of support from LeBron asking fans not to judge his son.

The post has over 83,000 likes and almost 2,000 comments. The account then shared a screenshot with the caption:

“BLOCKED BY JAMES! Nooo @KingJames”

Fans reacted to it on X. Many questioned why the four-time NBA champion is using his time to block an account that was set up for comedic purposes.

“Man That Guy Is So Sensitive,” a fan said.

“He’s soft,” said another fan.

“The goat took time out of his day to press block on ur account u made it,” commented a fan.

“Bron blocking centel as a result of this tweet makes it 10000000x funnier,” another fan said.

“Blocked by James gotta new meaning now,” joked one fan.

“He really let’s these guys get under his skin,” a fan wrote.

Bronny James was selected as the 55th overall pick out of USC in the 2024 NBA draft. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists as a freshman, which led to many analysts and fans questioning whether he was ready for the NBA.

Once LeBron James and Bronny James play alongside each other in a regular season game, they will become the first father-son duo in the history of the NBA to do so.

After Bronny James struggled in the NBA summer league, there was a lot of criticism aimed at him and the Lakers organization. However, LeBron said on ESPN Sunday in July that his son is unfazed by the outside noise.

“He doesn’t care,” James said. “I actually care a little bit. When I came in, I wanted people to like me, and some of the things that people were saying about me kind of bothered me early on in my career,” said James. “He doesn’t give a (expletive). He does not care about nobody. He doesn’t even listen to that stuff.”

The Lakers signed Bronny to a four-year $7.9 million contract and will look to continue developing him in the coming years. He should see some time at the NBA level this coming season but could also play in the G League.
