Teoscar Hernandez had the best year of his career in Dodger Blue. The All-Star slugger helped the team win the World Series and several crucial games. Hernandez stood up for his team and delivered when they needed him the most. However, he’s been a free agent for a long time and has declined the team’s qualifying offer.

The Dodgers have several sluggers on the team, but Hernandez stood apart in 2024. Hernandez is bound to sign with a team before the MLB 2025 regular season. The slugger has a growing demand, and several teams are behind him.

The Dodgers are well aware of his market value and have taken one step closer to sealing a deal with Teoscar Hernandez. The latest update came from the team’s very own manager, Dave Roberts.

Roberts shared the most positive news for Dodgers fans when asked whether Hernandez is returning.

“We are gonna run it back. LA is a city of champions and that’s something that I certainly appreciate. We want rings, Mookie said it, Shohei said it. They want to accumulate rings and build onto a legacy. So that’s want we wanna do. Teoscar, I love Teo, and so I think we’re close, I pray, everyone say your prayers that we get Teo done so he can come back in Dodger Blue as well,” Roberts said via the Dodgers Bleed Los Podcast.

Teoscar Hernandez To Stay Away From Deferrals

The Dodgers have played their cards well when it comes to acquiring new players or extending contracts. The franchise has provided a huge contract but has also built up on deferrals. Shohei Ohtani, Tommy Edman, and Blake Snell are a few players who have deferrals with the team.

However, Teoscar Hernandez has made it clear that he wants to avoid deferrals. Hernandez is predicted to sign a contract worth close to $100 million. A number of teams, including the New York Yankees, have expressed interest in the slugger.

The Dodgers will need to work their way to paying Hernandez in full. Yet Roberts seems promising in his words, and they are set to make progress.
