Victoria Monét has been hit with criticism for attending a Chris Brown concert, as detractors of the latter continue to vilify those who have expressed their support of the crooner.

On Wednesday (Aug. 7), a clip of the Grammy Award winner and a friend enjoying their evening while in attendance at the singer’s 11:11 tour stop went viral, quickly racking up millions of views. However, amid the various comments regarding the video were remarks by those who took issue with Monet’s presence at Brown’s concert, citing the hitmaker’s checkered history with women, among other allegations and offenses.

However, a contingent of fans also defended Monét while clapping back at those campaigning against Brown’s popularity and success, pointing to his staying power and in spite of the ill will against him and his contrition regarding his past missteps.

One social media user argued that, despite her own decision not to listen to Brown’s music, his critics’ efforts to deter others to do the same have largely proven unfruitful.

“Chris Brown is not ‘canceled’ offline,” Candace Sinclair wrote on X, formerly Twitter, in response to the clip of Monet. “In actuality, he is very loved and celebrated. When I say I don’t listen to him, I’m constantly met w ‘that’s his past blah blah blah.’ People who don’t engage with his music are the minority.”

Another dubbed the segment against Brown as “weird” and “obsessive” for attempting to force their own views onto others. “If you don’t like him don’t listen to his music and mute his name on here,” one fan chimed in. “Y’all have a habit of thinking yall can bully somebody into doing what YOU want them to do and it’s strange.

Victoria Monét is just the latest artist to be subjected to fallout from their association with Brown. Singer Kehlani’s recent selfie with Brown caused some to reference past tensions between the pair, with others celebrating the two stars’ repaired relationship.
