Meredith Gaudreau, wife of the late NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, took to Instagram with an emotional response after seeing Columbus Blue Jackets alternate captain Erik Gudbranson’s children dressed in special sweaters jerseys honoring Johnny. Erik’s sister, Lauryn Gudbranson, gifted the sweaters.

On Thursday, Erik Gudbranson’s wife Sarah Gudbranson posted a carousel of pictures of their two children, Bennett and Zoey, sporting custom-made sweaters featuring Johnny Gaudreau’s iconic No. 13. In the caption, she wrote:

“Always for #13 🤍The most thoughtful and special season opening day delivery from the best Auntie @lauryngudbranson 🥺”

Meredith Gaudreau shared Sarah’s story on her Instagram stories and expressed her love for the Gudbranson kids by writing:

“Love these little guys.”

It wasn’t the only tribute to Johnny Gaudreau’s memory. In a separate story, Meredith reposted the NHL’s Instagram post that captured the back of Dustin Wolf’s goaltender mask. The Calgary Flames goalie had a special tribute for his late teammate at the cap he wore under his mask.

She also wrote a heartfelt gratitude message to CBJ Center on Instagram for their special tribute series to the Gaudreau brothers. Meredith wrote:

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Elvis Merzlikins had Johnny Gaudreau’s iconic No. 13 painted on his goalie mask. Meredith reposted NHLPA’s IG post featuring the goalie’s tribute and wrote,

“Good ppl”, with a blue and red heart emoji.

Meredith Gaudreau thanks CBJ family for honoring Johnny Gradeau’s memory

The Columbus Blue Jackets will wear a special No. 13 patch throughout the season in honor of Johnny Gaudreau and did so on their opening night at Xcel Energy Center. Meredith shared the post on her stories with a blue heart emoji.

They also hung up his No. 13 jersey in the locker room, and Meredith wrote a heartfelt message of gratitude:

The Minnesota Wild and the Columbus Blue Jackets played their season opener on Thursday. Before the game, the teams honored Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau’s memory with a special tribute to their numbers at Xcel Energy Center.

The Gaudreau brothers passed away in a tragic accident on August 29 when an alleged drunk truck driver hit them when they were cycling. The loss left the entire hockey community heartbroken, and different efforts have been made by their former teams, teammates, and fans to honor their legacy.
