In a video posted on his social media pages, the ‘Love Lies’ singer responds to Hugo Almonte’s claims that suggested he was using pink cocaine and tried to silence Hugo by using ‘his power.’
Khalid is “hurt” by his ex-boyfriend’s recent allegations against him. After being outed as gay by his ex Hugo Almonte, the singer felt the need to clear things up and addressed a few things his ex said about him and their past relationship.
In a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, and his Instagram Stories on Monday, November 25, Khalid started by addressing allegations that he used pink cocaine. “I’ve never done cocaine a day in my life. I don’t place myself in those scenarios,” he said.
The 26-year-old then moved on to talk about the “escorting thing.” Denying the allegation, he said, “I’ve never paid for sex a day in my life…ever. I’ve never paid anybody to date me. I’ve never paid anybody to be in a relationship with me…ever.”
The “Young Dumb & Broke” hitmaker also denied publicly accusing anyone of breaking into his house. “I’ve never accused anybody publicly of breaking into my house, and the only people who even know about a breaking are my close circle. Nobody knew because I don’t want everybody in my business,” he explained.
While he initially didn’t want to jump into the conversation, Khalid said he was “hurt” by Hugo’s claims and slammed social media users who accused him of being “manipulative” after Hugo’s posts. “Seeing the few comments of people painting me as if I’m just some manipulative abuser, it’s just crazy to me regarding the stories of the abuse,” he said in the video. “It’s triggering. It’s triggering because it’s the other way around, and that’s what hurts.”
“I’m not gonna run around like I’m the best guy in the world,” Khalid admitted, before adding, “All of this is definitely frustrating. I’m not gonna run around like I’m unbothered. I never said I was unbothered by anything. This is very bothering. … I had to say something.”
Khalid ended his video by saying that all the music that’s coming out after this was “supposed to happen before all of this.” He was responding to claims that he was using his sexuality as a publicity stunt, saying, “It’s not my vibe.”
The video comes after Hugo told Rolling Stone on Friday that he intended to “share how [Khalid] tried to use his power to silence me because I simply ended our relationship,” and that he didn’t mean to out the singer. Hugo claimed that “one of your favorite gay R&B singers” had served him pink cocaine and had accused him of breaking into his house, seemingly referencing Khalid.
Prior to that, Hugo outed Khalid as gay and slammed him on social media, painting the singer as an obsessive ex. “I was dating this dumb a** singer he’s ugly as f**k but he tried to set me up and lie and say I broke into his house because I broke up with him like why would I go to your house and do all that if I broke up with you dumb a**!” he tweeted last week.
Khalid then confirmed his sexuality, writing on his own account, “I got outted and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me [a black heart emoji] love yall.” He also explained why he never came clean about his sexuality before, saying, “I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business.”
