According to Ben Pope, Colton Dach a Chicago Blackhawks prospect has been working hard all summer to make an impression with the coaching staff as he attempts to make his way to the NHL.

Many have felt that he needs to improve his toughness and his physicality in his game which could give him an edge to make the Blackhawks. During their first rookie game against the St Louis Blues, Dach had one fight with Blues Micheal Buchinger while delivering three hits.

According to eliteprospects.com, the 21-year-old forward who is the brother of former Blackhawks brother Kirby Dach, stands at six foot 4 and 196 lbs. He was drafted in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, second round, 62nd overall. He is currently playing for the Rockford Icehogs where he played 48 games, scoring 11 goals with 16 assists for 27 points.

The Blackhawks will have stiff competition across the entire camp and within the roster. With several years of rebuilding and numerous prospects overflowing into the talent pool, players like Dach will need to work over and above their capacity in order to stand out and to get noticed.

Today’s performance certainly will help his cause, and it remains to be seen on whether we will see more of him, especially during the early preseason games.
