The trio from Belfast have become a cultural phenomenon thanks to their unique musical style and passion for the Irish language.

Kneecap’s music incorporates aspects from two genres, punk and traditional Irish music, while their lyrics focus on themes of culture, politics and identity.

What separates Kneecap from their peers, is their use of both the English and Irish language in their lyrics.

Their first single C.E.A.R.T.A. was released in 2017 and earned the band international acclaim, including making fans out of music legends Elton John and Oasis’ Noel Gallagher.

The band’s latest fan Ed Sheeran shocked fans as he was spotted amongst the crowd on Tuesday.

Jamming out to one of their hit songs, the UK singer appeared to be having an amazing time at the gig.

Once fans spotted Ed in the balcony of the iconic venue, they took to social media to share the news.

One user wrote: ‘Now why is ed sheeran at kneecap rn’, whilst another penned: ‘Think Ed Sheeran is at kneecap lmao.’

The movie earned critical acclaim and has become the first film as Gaeilge to do so.

It was also announced as Ireland’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 2025 Academy Awards- there is no stopping these boys!
