Taylor Swift is showing some love for Zoë Kravitz!
On Friday, Aug. 24, the “Fortnight” singer, 34, shouted out Kravitz’s new movie Blink Twice — the actress’ directorial debut — on her Instagram Stories as the film opened in theaters, calling her longtime friend’s work “a clear and bold vision.”
“This film is incredible. Thrilling, twisted, wickedly funny, and visually stunning,” Swift wrote in a caption over an image of Blink Twice’s poster, which features the movie’s stars Channing Tatum and Naomi Ackie. She also shared a link to purchase tickets for the new movie. “The performances are phenomenal. @zoeisabellakravitz conceptualized this, wrote it, obsessed over every detail, and directed it with such a clear and bold vision.”
“I’m so blown away by what she’s accomplished here and I can’t wait to watch everyone discover this film and this brilliant filmmaker,” Swift continued in her caption, before adding a trigger warning for audience members before they see the rated R film in theaters.
“Trigger warning: contains mature themes and depictions of violence, including sexual violence,” she wrote. “This may be upsetting or triggering to some viewers.”
Swift’s promotion of the film — and the added trigger warning — comes just after Amazon MGM Studios issued its own warning to the movie’s social media accounts on Thursday, Aug. 22, warning audiences that the movie “is a psychological thriller about the abuse of power.” Ackie, 31, stars in the movie as a cocktail waitress who accepts an invite from a tech billionaire (Tatum, 44) to visit his private island with a large group of friends and grows uncertain of their intentions.
“While this is a fictionalized movie, it contains mature themes and depictions of violence — including sexual violence,” that warning reads. “This may be upsetting or triggering for some viewers. For resources that offer support, visit BlinkTwiceResources.com.”
Swift’s support for Kravitz, 35, as she embarks on a new career as a filmmaker comes just after she and her fiancé Tatum recently attended one of Swift’s Eras Tour shows at London’s Wembley Stadium. “Date night with TSwift. The love is real and Taylor is an absolute force!” Tatum wrote in an Instagram post on Aug. 19 showing the pair at the show and hanging out with Swift’s father, Scott.
It’s unclear exactly how long Kravitz and Swift have been friends, but Kravitz said in 2022 that she and Swift spent a significant amount of time together in London during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Swift previously publicly praised Kravitz’s acting in 2022’s The Batman, and the two have been seen out and about in public in the past, including their attendance at Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff’s August 2023 wedding.
Blink Twice is in theaters now.
