The criminal claimed the Edinburgh-based author’s Harry Potter books were ‘c**p’ as he also defended Mridul Wadhwa amidst the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre controversy
JK Rowling has responded after evil double rapist Isla Bryson called her “pathetic”. The Harry Potter author joked “the violent ѕєχ offender market is of critical importance to me” after learning of Bryson’s deranged rant, during which he defended controversial Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre.
Bryson, who is biologically male and was born ‘Adam Graham’, said Rowling’s books were “c**p” and that he pitied her. The 32-year-old is currently serving an eight-year sentence for raping two women.
His case sparked huge controversy in Scotland with the conviction coming amid a fierce debate on gender and self-identification. Transgender Bryson was initially remanded in a female prison before being moved while Nicola Sturgeon refused to say whether she thought Bryson was male or female.
Edinburgh-based Rowling, 59, has become a vocal supporter of protecting female-only spaces and has been an outspoken critic of the Scottish Government’s plans to make it easier for biological men to legally ‘change’ gender. Responding to Bryson, she took to social media site X and quipped: “The violent ѕєχ offender market is of critical importance to me, so I do hope Mr Bryson’s remarks won’t dissuade other rapists from borrowing my books from the prison library.”
In letters to the Sunday Mail, Bryson had ranted about Rowling and claimed he should be in a women-only prison despite being a convicted rapist. He said: “People like JK Rowling are sad and pathetic. I do feel sorry for JK Rowling, her books are crap and her movies are too.”
He also wrote he was a “woman with boobs”, adding: “Why should a trans woman be treated as a man in prison when we are women? Fact. No matter what anyone else says these people are just narrow minded who don’t even like themselves.”
He also defended transgender Mridul Wadhwa, the former CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre who quit after a damning report into the management of the facility was published. Bryson said: “She had every right to work there. She is a woman.”
Rowling had previously mocked Bryson, who only started claiming to be a woman after being accused of rape. In April, the writer was reported to Police Scotland under Hate Crime legislation for ‘misgendering’ the criminal although no action was taken.
She said at the time: “Lovely Scottish lass and convicted double rapist Isla Bryson found her true authentic female self shortly before she was due to be sentenced. Misgendering is hate, so respect Isla’s pronouns, please.”
It recently emerged Police Scotland considered placing Bryson on the female ѕєχ offenders list. He is currently housed at Glenochil prison with police guidance suggesting criminals should be placed in estates that correspond to their legal gender prior to conviction.
