It is going to be a great holiday season for Garrett Crochet. After being on the trade rumor mill for quite some time, the star pitcher finally found his new home at the Boston Red Sox. However, it did not happen overnight, as Crochet was looking to pitch it somewhere away from the White Sox.

As the trade has successfully taken place, the dominant lefty has come out clean on his excitement to meet the Red Sox Legend, Pedro Martinez. While preparing to pitch in the iconic Fenway Park, he can’t help but think about the chance to connect with Martinez.

During a recent Zoom call, Crochet expressed how meaningful it would be to have any conversation with Martinez. “I think that having any sort of conversation with Pedro would be my ideal world,” the Red Sox pitcher said.

Quite interestingly, other than being a former superstar pitcher, Pedro Martinez is now a special assistant to the team. Crochet will have a good time associating with the baseball legend.

“I’m kind of going in with low expectations. Hoping to bump into guys when I can. But other than that, when I get into spring training, I intend on just having my head down and working hard,” Garrett Crochet added, acknowledging the need to put his skills to wor

Garrett Crochet Have To Pick A New Jersey Number

Upon joining the Red Sox, Crochet had to change his jersey number from 45, which he wore with pride. It’s retired in honor of Pedro Martinez’s contributions to the team. It could be a small shift for the Mississippi-born pitcher, but he could find solace in the fact that Pedro also wore the 45-numbered jersey throughout his career.

Also, the new Red Sox player might have to do extra math to print a new number on his jersey. He is left with a few good options, and if he looks back at his youth days, all those numbers have already been put on the shelf. Other than 45, if he thinks of number 34, the team has already retired the jersey. The Red Sox retired No. 34 in honor of former star David Ortiz’s jersey at Fenway Park back in 2017. Similarly, they retired his No. 14 jersey, which he wore in high school, for Jim Rice.

Although, with a new base, Crochet has found a number that he will be taking forward with Boston. He decided to opt for number 35 which was last worn by Richard Bleier in 2023.
