Eminem’s 8 Mile is back in the headlines after 22 years of its release. The musical-drama follows the life of an aspiring musician named Jimmy ‘B-Rabbit’ Smith, played by Eminem. He resolves to come out of his troubled life by participating in a rapping contest facing all the twists and turns. Now, there are sudden rumors surging about the film’s potential second installment. So, is an 8 Mile sequel really on the cards?
Eminem’s 8 Mile: Rise of a Legend Rumors Explained
The rumors around the film’s sequel started on the internet with a Facebook post dropping a poster (via The Direct). The poster appeared to be a sequel to 8 Mile, titled 8 Mile: Rise of a Legend. As fans started observing the poster, it seemed that the film would follow up the journey of Jimmy Smith 20 years later after the events of part 1.
The 2002 movie focused on Smith’s rise to prominence in the rapping world. However, it ended before he got his first break. Additionally, the poster showcased a character similar to Andre Dr.Dre Young, the hip-hop legend who played a key role in Eminem’s success.
However, the poster going viral on social media platforms is fake. It is believed that the poster might be fan-made or created by social media users to spread speculations regarding films. Moreover, this is not the first time an 8 Mile sequel rumor has taken the internet by storm. In September of this year, a poster of B-Rabbit’s journey on Netflix was making rounds. However, fans could easily figure out that the poster was fan-made through artificial intelligence. On the other hand, the makers of the original film haven’t dropped any hints about a potential sequel.
While the 8 Mile sequel rumors might be false, fans haven’t given up hope. A sequel idea revolving around B-Rabbit’s successful life post struggles can make for an interesting watch. Nevertheless, it is up to the makers to develop an idea about a second installment.
In the meantime, fans can enjoy 8 Mile streaming on Netflix.
