Teoscar Hernandez had an excellent season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hernandez helped the team win the World Series with his consistency at the plate. The star slugger is one of the top free-agent outfielders and is undoubtedly in demand.

Hernandez declined the qualifying offer by the Dodgers but the Boys in Blue are keen on retaining him. Several other teams have been rumored to pursue Hernandez. However, he made it clear that he’s interested in remaining with the Dodgers.

While Teoscar Hernandez’s trade rumors continue to swirl, Dodgers insider David Vassegh believes the team is in the final stages of negotiations. According to Vassegh, Hernandez is expected to ink a multi-year deal with the team.

“The understanding from hearing from people around the league is that Teoscar Hernández is expected to re-sign with the Dodgers. The Dodgers and Hernández are in the final stages of nailing out a final contract, with the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings just around the corner,” Vassegh said, according to the Dodgers beat.

Dodgers Could Drop Out On Juan Soto After Signing Teoscar Hernandez

The Dodgers were one of many teams pursuing Juan Soto. Now that they have Hernandez as their target, they are expected to drop Soto. The Dodgers won the World Series without Soto, and many believe that they are doing well without him.

Experts predict that the Dodgers have offered Soto close to $600 million. Going behind Soto might not make sense for the franchise, especially since they have deferred money on other players. Moreover, they can use that $600 million to sign several other stars.

Hernandez recorded a career-high 33 home runs for the Dodgers. He finished his season with a .272 batting average, a .339 OBP, and a .840 OPS. Hernandez recorded 99 RBIs and drove 84 runs in 589 appearances at the plate.

Dave Roberts and his squad will have a great chance to retain their star slugger. The Dodgers need to act quickly, as several teams are interested in Hernandez. There are no further details on the contract, but the Dodgers are predicted to close in. Hernandez has been a huge part of the team alongside Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and several other stars.
