Reports have emerged earlier this evening that tragedy has struck the home of Philadelphia Flyers winger Travis connect me as a house fire has burned down his home and left two firefighters injured.

It was reported that no one was home when the fire broke out and when firefighters arrived, there was thick black smoke pouring out of the second and third story windows. The fire appeared to be so intense that two firefighters suffered burns while attempting to knockout the blaze.

It took firefighters over an hour to get the fire under control and it appears that the home suffered severe damage to both floors and an investigation will begin to discover the cause of the blaze.

This summer was supposed to be a summer of accomplishment and celebration for Konency as he had locked in a new contract with the Flyers as he signed in eight-year maximum deal with $70 million holding a cap hit of $8.75 million per season. Last season, he played 76 games scoring 33 goals with 35 assists for 68 points and had 67 penalty minutes.

We are sending our well wishes to the Konency family as they deal with this difficult time.
