UFC 302 ended with nothing but excitement and awe in the fight fans’ eyes. But the talks have taken a turn toward the boxing realm in the UFC 302 post-fight press conference. Therein, the UFC CEO, Dana White, revealed some secrets about the boxing legend, Mike Tyson, while trying his best to keep quiet about his postponed fight.
The recent UFC event ended with half of the MMA community in tears, with Dustin Poirier seemingly announcing his retirement, right after losing the bout against Islam Makhachev with a D’arce choke. However, the UFC head honcho was asked about Tyson during the press conference. Let’s find out what he had to say.
Dana White reveals why Mike Tyson was upset with him
Mike Tyson and ‘The Problem Child’, Jake Paul, were all set to face each other in June. Unfortunately, Tyson fell into a painful fit as his ulcer flared up. This led to the postponement of the fight. But when Dana White was asked to give out some insights on ‘Iron Mike’, he preferred to stay dumb.
While the fans were eager to see the legendary boxer step into the squared ring years after retirement, his health conditions put the fight in jeopardy. Nevertheless, the YouTuber-turned-professional boxer claimed that he would be ready to take on the former champion anytime.
White had made a few comments and provided the fighting community with some insights into the fight. But this time, he held his tongue. All the audience sensed from the UFC bossman was fear of getting heat from ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’. White claimed that he knew quite a lot of things about it, but wouldn’t say anything. The reason? It was because the former heavyweight boxing champ usually got irritated with the UFC CEO when he shared some information related to him.
White said, “Yeah, obviously, I know a lot about it, but I’m not gonna talk about it, probably, you know. For the first time, probably ever in my life, I have no comment on something. That’s Mike’s world and you know, he gets p**sed at me every time I talk about that stuff. Good for him and they’ll figure it out.”

However, the UFC head honcho didn’t back down from making some comments about the matchup between Tyson and Paul. In an interview with Lex Friedman, not too long ago, White revealed that Tyson had earned a boatload of money. Yet, there were some fights he simply couldn’t say no to.
The UFC CEO’s opinion on Paul vs. Tyson matchup
In the interview with Friedman, White revealed that Tyson had the kind of aura that attracted people to him. He claimed that the former boxer made quite a bit of money from his time outside the boxing ring. But why did Tyson have to take up the fight against Paul, despite his age being a limiting factor? White had an answer. He said, “I just, I think that he ends up getting these offers that he can’t refuse.”
On another instance, White revealed that ‘Iron Mike’ wanted the fight against ‘The Problem Child’ to go down on the record as a real fight, and not an exhibition. However, the UFC head claimed that the commission was unsure of it all. But this time, it seems like White did not wish to share anything about the boxing bout. After all, no one would want to be on the bad side of ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’, right?
What do you think of White’s response? Do you think Paul and Tyson could fight anytime soon? Let us know in the comments down below.
