Published in 2011, ‘The Christmas Pig’ by J.K. Rowling tells the story of a boy named Jack who embarks on a magical journey to rescue his lost toy pig named Piglet. Along the way, he and his new toy, the Christmas Pig, purchased by his parents after Piglet went missing, encounter numerous challenges to rescue the old toy from a forgotten world.

Similar to Rowling’s other works, the tale is a magical journey through realms of imagination. With the mission to rescue Piglet, Rowling continues to captivate her readers, drawing inspiration for the book from her son’s twin toy pigs.

According to Variety, the project is currently in its early development stage and has yet to secure a producer. When asked for comment, Rowling’s spokesperson declined to respond to media inquiries.

This news comes a week after Rowling, 58, known for her history of controversial remarks against transgender individuals, criticized ‘Harry Potter’ film stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson for rejecting her views in 2020.

Following her article asserting her stance on transgender rights in the UK, Rowling targeted Radcliffe and Watson, demanding they “issue an apology” to her for “hurting transgender individuals.”

Rowling wrote: “Celebrities endorsing the transgender movement are eroding the increasingly limited rights afforded to women. Those leveraging their fame and influence to support the idea that minors can transition genders should apologize to adult transsexuals and vulnerable women, as widespread opposition makes their situation increasingly difficult, amid scant rights recognition.”

In April 2023, Warner Bros. announced plans to adapt Rowling’s bestselling ‘Harry Potter’ series into a television series. Rowling herself will oversee production, with an anticipated release date in 2026.

She stated: “Warner Bros.’ commitment to preserving the integrity of my books in this adaptation is crucial, and I look forward to being deeply involved in this new adaptation. This will allow me to intervene at the deepest and most detailed level that the television series demands.”

Recently, Rowling’s production company, Brontë Film and TV, witnessed a 74% decline in profits in 2023. The company has recently produced the Cormoran Strike series, adapted from crime novels written under Rowling’s pseudonym Robert Galbraith, including ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling,’ ‘The Silkworm,’ and ‘Career of Evil.’
