Last week, Netflix announced the release date of a 10-part documentary called “Starting 5” featuring LeBron James, Jayson Tatum and three other All-Stars. To give fans a taste of what’s to come, the online streaming service dropped a trailer for the series. The first episode of the highly anticipated release will be available on Oct. 9.

James and Tatum recently graced the “Starting 5” red carpet premiere. They dapped up and shared brief hugs before posing for photos:

“Starting 5” follows the 2023-24 NBA campaign of James (Lakers), Tatum (Celtics), Jimmy Butler (Heat), Anthony Edwards (Timberwolves) and Domantas Sabonis (Kings).

Produced by UNINTERRUPTED in association with Higher Ground Productions and Omaha Productions, the documentary doesn’t just dwell on the basketball careers of the players. It will also show glimpses of their lives off the court as their families deal with their stardom.

Directed by Susan Ansman, Peter J. Scalettar and Trishtan Williams, the stories of the five players will unfold in 10 45-minute episodes. Netflix releases the series as a spin-off of its well-received NFL-based films “Quarterback” and “Receiver.”

Netflix has given a short description of what fans can expect from “Starting 5”:

“James exerts himself harder than ever to stay healthy — and dominant — in his 21st season, while Edwards electrifies with his rapid rise. Butler’s relentless drive propels the Heat, Sabonis anchors the Kings with his versatile play, and Tatum leads the Celtics in their quest for a record 18th championship.”

LeBron James talks to reporters about “Starting 5” on premiere night

LeBron James joined his co-stars Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards and Domantas Sabonis on the premiere night of “Starting 5.” After posing for photos, “King James” had a chance to talk to reporters about the release of the docu-series.

James had this to say about what to expect from the show:

“To see what we do before we even get out on the floor. To see off days and spending time with our families and our friends. You know, just life outside the game. I think the human side of us will be shown a lot on this and I think people will be appreciative of that.”

Basketball fans are waiting for the reviews of “Starting 5” to come out. For now, many will be content to see LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler and Domantas Sabonis come out for the red carpet premiere of the series.
