Madison Square Garden saw a breathtaking moment on Friday when Indiana Pacers star Obi Toppin amazed players, commentators and fans alike with his outstanding athleticism. Although New York Knicks star Josh Hart missed seeing Toppin’s impressive feat live, the former Laker expressed his surprise after watching a video of the incident.
In the Knicks’ 123-98 blowout win over the Pacers, Toppin showcased his incredible hops by leaping to retrieve a basketball stuck near the shot clock. The moment occurred with the Knicks leading 95-64, as the ball lodged itself on the backboard square. Toppin took two steps, jumped and tapped the basketball out with his left arm.
On Saturday morning, Hart reacted to the video of Toppin’s impressive effort, summing up the Pacers forward’s successful attempt in just three words.
“This is WILD,” Hart wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
At the time the moment occurred during the live game, Hart was seated on the Knicks bench, not paying attention to the action on the court.
The commentators were equally amazed by the 6-foot-9 Toppin’s incredible leap to retrieve the basketball. One commentator was in disbelief and described Toppin’s effort as “stupid” before admitting that he had never seen anyone do anything like that before.
