Yet, for people like Deo, such hardships often give rise to determination. He strived to make a living in any way possible, facing poverty and an uncertain future head-on. Even early on, Diwata wanted recognition—not for fame, but to rise from poverty and secure a better life.
He also demonstrated courage and social responsibility, such as the viral incident in 2016 when he reported friends using illegal drugs under a bridge in Pasay.
The Birth of Diwata Paris Overload

While continuing to earn a living, Deo conceptualized a business idea that marked the start of his rise: Diwata Paris Overload. This eatery offered unlimited rice, soup, and soft drinks at an affordable price, a welcome relief during a time of rising commodity prices for budget-conscious diners.
The business quickly gained traction. Customers flocked, and many attempted to copy his concept. In response, Deo stated, “I am the original. You are just pirated.”
Diwata Paris Overload became more than just a food stall; it became a symbol of hope for those seeking affordable, hearty meals. Over time, he expanded the menu to include fried chicken, grilled pork belly, and sausages.
Media Exposure and Growing Influence
In 2019, Diwata appeared in ABS-CBN’s Miss Q&A segment on It’s Showtime, showcasing her unique personality and courage. This exposure brought her to the attention of vloggers, content creators, and a broader audience.
By 2024, she appeared in the ABS-CBN teleserye FPJ Batang Quiapo as Frida, directed by Coco Martin, further solidifying her image in mainstream media.

In May 2024, Diwata was awarded Most Sensational Media Personality of the Year at the Dangal Filipino Awards, followed by Social Media Influencer of the Year from Asia’s Golden Icon Awards. These accolades were not just symbols of popularity but proof of her societal impact, inspiring others through her transformation.

Throughout her journey, Diwata also received support from sympathetic individuals. Rose Martan gave her a house and lot and PHP 1 million, while content creators Wamos Cruz and Antonet Gale gifted her gold bars, laptops, and cellphones.
However, her rise to fame was not without challenges. In April 202_, she faced legal issues for a slight physical injury case dating back to 2018. In February 2025, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) criticized her for wearing indigenous attire and using gestures deemed culturally inappropriate during the Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City. She issued a public apology.
Criticism also came from customers and social media users. Some claimed she was not accessible for selfies or selective in her interactions. Former actress Mystica questioned the hygiene of her stall, suggesting attention should be on sanitation rather than exclusivity.

The popularity of Diwata Paris Overload eventually led to changes in customer flow. Social media reports indicated longer waits and decreased foot traffic compared to its early days. Franchise issues, unpaid royalties, and operational challenges also created financial strain. Deo clarified on social media that despite appearances, she had not personally profited due to franchise obligations, and she sometimes had to cover expenses herself.

Today, Diwata is more than a street vendor. She is a content creator, television personality, and entrepreneur with expanding influence. Her Quezon City branch is managed with vloggers, social media promotions, and participation in pop culture events. While her fame has waned slightly, her business continues to operate, adapt, and reach audiences.
