International superstar and Tennessean Taylor Swift has not been as vocal this election season, leaving many wondering if she will be at the Democratic National Convention this week or give an endorsement to Vice President Kamala Harris, especially after former President Donald Trump’s recent AI share.
Speculation of whether or not the “Bad Blood” singer’s appearance at the national convention in Chicago has reached new heights after Trump posted multiple suspected artificially intelligent-generated images on his Truth social media eluding to an endorsement of the 2024 Republican presidential candidate by Taylor Swift and Swifties’ for his campaign, despite Swift’s vocal disdain for Trump in the past.
Even though Swift has not given an endorsement to any political figure presidential or otherwise, but as a voting advocate Swift did ask her fans to vote in the Super Tuesday primaries in March.
“I wanted to remind you guys to vote the people who most represent YOU into power,” she wrote in an Instagram story. “If you haven’t already, make a plan to vote today.”
Will Taylor Swift be at the DNC?
Swift has been busy in her worldwide Eras Tour, so it is yet to be seen if the musician will be taking a break to make an appearance at the DNC.
The pop star has used her star power to boost voter registration with a single social media post. On National Voter Registration Day, a record of more than 30,000 people signed up through Vote.org after Swift posted a message on her Instagram.
Taylor Swift has supported Kamala Harris as VP before
As for Swift, she has certainly not been shy about using her voice to make her political stances clear.
A month before the 2020 election, Swift posted a photo on Instagram of “Biden 2020” cookies she made encouraging voters to paint the election box blue. She wrote: “I spoke to @vmagazine about why I’ll be voting for Joe Biden for president,” Swift wrote in the caption. “So apt that it’s come out on the night of the VP debate. Gonna be watching and supporting @KamalaHarris by yelling at the tv a lot.”
In 2020, she endorsed Biden for president but hasn’t had much time for political posts while being on the latest leg of her Eras Tour.
Trump falsely claims Taylor Swift endorsement from suspected AI-generated images
Trump’s post of AI-generated mixed with actual images of Taylor Swift and Swifties with messages like, “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump,” with a generated image of Swift as Uncle Sam, while another seemingly AI image, marked as satire, reads, “Swifties turning to Trump after ISIS foiled Taylor Swift concert.”
“I accept,” Trump wrote above it.
These images referenced a suspected terrorist plot planned at Swift’s Vienna concert earlier this month, which was thwarted by Austrian authorities, with help from U.S. officials.
AI allegations in the 2024 election
And while Trump has tried to use AI-generated imagery in hopes of swaying votes from Swifties, he has accused Harris of using AI to inflate the appearance of crowds of at her and running mate Tim Walz’s rallies.
In a series of posts last week on his platform, Trump stated that a specific image depicting supporters greeting Harris as she stepped off Air Force Two in Michigan. He falsely claimed on Truth Social that “There was nobody at the plane, and she ‘A.I.‘d’ it.”
Harris’s campaign stated 15,000 people turned out to support the Democratic presidential nominee in Romulus, Michigan, and Glendale, Arizona. Thousands on the ground witnessed the the crowd sizes at her events and multiple news outlets have confirmed the campaign’s numbers are in line with what they saw, according to USA TODAY.
