Cristy Fermin charged with cyberlibel in Bea Alonzo case

Nahaharap sa panibagong legal battle ang veteran columnist-vlogger na si Cristy Fermin.

Kaugnay ito ng sinasabing paninirang-puri niya sa A-list actress na si Bea Alonzo.

Inirekomenda ng Office of the City Prosecutor ng Quezon City na makasuhan ng cyberlibel si Cristy nitong June 2025.

Dawit sa kaso sina Rommel Villamor at Wendell Alvarez, ang dalawang co-hosts ni Cristy sa online show nitong Showbiz Now Na.

Nakasaad sa isang bahagi ng 66-page resolution, published as is: “Evidently, the subject video post reflects Respondents’ indifference as to the truth or falsity of his imputations against Complainant.

“Other than to harm or discredit Complainant’s stock and good name, no good reason or justifiable motive can be inferred from Respondents’ injurious actions.”

Ayon pa sa fiscal, walang naipakitang pruweba ang kampo ni Cristy na totoo ang nilalaman ng in-upload niyang mapanirang vlog laban kay Bea sa YouTube.

Lalo pa’t mariing pinabulaanan daw ni Bea ang sinasabing libelous video content.

Sabi ng Quezon City Prosecutor: “In sum, said video post imputed to Complainant (and those necessarily affected) defects or circumstances causing dishonor, discredit and contempt.”

BEA ALONZO’S LEGAL COUNSEL SPEAKS

Hiwalay na nakausap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ang legal counsel ni Bea na si Atty. Joey Garcia ng GERA Law Firm ngayong Miyerkules ng hapon, July 30, 2025.

Kinumpirma ni Atty. Garcia sa PEP na, base sa hiwalay na impormasyon mula sa korte, iniutos na ang pag-aresto kina Cristy, Rommel, at Wendell.

Ngunit maaari silang magpiyansa ng halagang PHP48,000 kada isa.

Tanong ng PEP: Ano ang reaksiyon ni Bea sa pag-akyat ng kaso laban sa grupo ni Cristy?

Pahayag ni Garcia: “We welcome the resolution of the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office finding prima facie evidence with reasonable certainty of conviction in the cyberlibel case filed by our client, Ms. Bea Alonzo, against Ms. Cristy Fermin and her associates.

Hindi malinaw kung alin sa mga episodes ng Showbiz Now Na patungkol kay Bea ang sinasabing libelous.

Tinanong ng PEP kung anong vlogs ni Cristy ang nakitaan ng piskalya ng libelous content.

Tumangging magdetalye si Atty. Garcia tungkol dito.

Sabi ng abugado sa PEP: “As much as I would like to discuss the case, I want to be fair out of respect to the judge and the other party because merits na po ito ng case. It’s for the honorable judge to resolve the issues.”

Ayon din sa abogado ni Bea, hindi pa niya nakukuha ang kopya ng resolusyon ng piskal sa preliminary investigation nito.

Hindi pa rin daw niya nakukuha ang kopya ng arrest order ng korte para kina Cristy, Wendell, at Rommel.

Nalaman lang daw niya ang balita nang mabasa ito sa isang online news site ngayong Miyerkules.

CYBERLIBEL CASE VS GIRLFRIEND OF BEA’S FORMER DRIVER

Samantala, matatandaang naghain si Bea ng hiwalay na cyberlibel complaint sa girlfriend ng kanyang dating driver.

Patungkol dito, naglabas na ng resolusyon ang Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office na may petsang July 7, 2025.

Nakasaad sa resolusyon na isang bilang ng cyberlibel ang isasampa laban sa babaeng nagpakalat umano ng malisyosong impormasyon laban kay Bea.

Ibinasura naman ng korte ang tatlo pang bilang ng cyberlibel complaint laban sa girlfriend ng dating driver ng aktres.

Petsang May 2, 2024 nang magsampa ng reklamong cyberlibel si Bea laban sa tatlong Showbiz Now Na hosts, at ng hiwalay na reklamong cyberlibel laban sa girlfriend ng dating driver.

Upang makilatis ng mambabasa ang sumambulat na mga reklamo, sinuma ng PEP.ph noong May 13, 2024 ang 16 episodes na inilabas ni Cristy tungkol kay Bea, sakop ang mga buwan ng Enero hanggang Mayo, 2024.

Ang nilalaman ng vlogs ay may kinalaman sa sanga-sangang isyung ikinabit sa hiwalayan nina Bea at ang fiancé nito noong si Dominic Roque.

May mga malinaw na pangungutya roon si Cristy kay Bea at sa nangyaring breakup nito kay Dominic.

Sa vlog ni Cristy noong March 2024 ay lumabas naman ang mga alegasyon ng dating driver ni Bea laban sa aktres.

Ito ay mga reklamo umano ng dating driver sa work conditions, benefits, at overtime pay noong panahong naninilbihan siya kay Bea.

Sinabi ni Cristy na ang source niya ay ang girlfriend ng dating driver.

Ang sinasabing source ay idinemanda rin ni Bea. Ito nga ang cyberlibel complaint na ngayon ay inakyat na ng piskalya sa korte.

Hiningan ng PEP ng komento si Cristy tungkol sa pag-akyat sa korte ng reklamo ni Bea laban sa kanya at kina Wendell at Rommel.

Agad namang sumagot si Cristy sa text message ng PEP lead correspondent na si Arniel Serrato ngayong Miyerkoles ng gabi, Hulyo 30.

Aminado si Cristy na “naloloka” ang co-hosts niyang sina Wendell at Rommel dahil “first time” daw ng mga itong makasuhan.

Pero, may kumpiyansang saad din ni Cristy: “Ilalaban natin ito.”
