Comedian Bayani Casimiro Jr. Dies at 57
Best known for his iconic role as Prinsipe K in Okay Ka, Fairy Ko!
Bayani Casimiro Jr., the Filipino comedian best known for portraying Prinsipe K in the long-running fantasy sitcom Okay Ka, Fairy Ko!, passed away on July 25, 2025, due to cardiac arrest. He was 57.
The sad news was confirmed to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) by his sister, Marilou Casimiro, who said that the comedian died peacefully but suddenly. His passing has left many in the local entertainment industry mourning, especially fans of the classic sitcom that defined his legacy.
Born Arnulfo “Jude” Casimiro on August 15, 1967, Bayani Jr. was the son of the legendary Bayani Casimiro Sr., famously known as the “Fred Astaire of the Philippines.” Like his father, Bayani Jr. entered the entertainment industry, continuing the comedic legacy left behind when his father passed away in 1989.
A Legacy Carried Through Laughter
Although Bayani Jr. had been away from the limelight in recent years, he remained a fond memory for many who grew up watching Okay Ka, Fairy Ko!, which aired across multiple networks between 1987 and 1997—starting on IBC 13, moving to ABS-CBN, and finally ending its run on GMA-7.
Bayani Sr. was originally part of the sitcom’s cast, and after his passing in January 1989, Bayani Jr. was brought in as his on-screen successor. He took on the role of Prinsipe K (Prinsipe Kahilingan), a magical royal character who granted wishes in the fantasy-comedy universe created by lead actor Vic Sotto. The role became his most iconic and defined his career.
Over the span of his career, Bayani Jr. appeared in more than ten films and four television programs, carving out his own name while staying true to his comedic roots. However, after his run on television, he slowly withdrew from the entertainment scene.
A Quiet Life Beyond the Spotlight
Despite his on-screen charisma, Bayani Jr. lived a relatively quiet personal life. He never married and did not have children. According to family members, he remained close to his siblings and lived simply outside the media spotlight for years.
At the time of his death, he was not actively involved in any showbiz projects, but his memory lived on among fans of 90s Filipino television, especially those who recall the charm and humor he brought to Okay Ka, Fairy Ko!.
Wake and Final Farewell
Bayani Casimiro Jr.’s remains are currently lying in state at St. Peter’s Memorial Chapel in Sucat, Parañaque City. His cremation and inurnment are scheduled for July 30, 2025, at Loyola Memorial Park, also in Parañaque.
In a heartfelt appeal, his sister Marilou expressed two special requests. First, she hopes that news of her brother’s passing reaches Vic Sotto, acknowledging the enormous role Vic played in giving Bayani Jr. a chance to shine in showbiz. Second, she humbly asks for anyone willing to send flowers to his wake, as the viewing area is currently sparse and she wishes for her brother to be remembered with warmth and dignity.
A Star Remembered
Though Bayani Casimiro Jr. may not have remained in the public eye in his later years, his contributions to Filipino comedy and pop culture are undeniable. As Prinsipe K, he delighted generations of viewers with his wit, comedic timing, and magical flair. For many Filipinos, he was more than a supporting character—he was a symbol of light-hearted humor in a golden era of television.
His death marks the end of an era, but also a chance to look back and celebrate the laughter he brought to so many homes. Rest in peace, Bayani Jr.—thank you for the joy.
