MANILA, Philippines — Weddings bells will indeed be ringing soon for actress Carla Abellana and her non-showbiz boyfriend.
Marriage rumors stirred after Carla posted on social media a photo of her left hand sporting a diamond ring, and a man’s hand clasping her fingers.
Carla simply accompanied the photo with a Bible verse and three white heart emojis as caption, “Jeremiah 29:11: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.'”
Talks of a wedding between Carla and an unknown partner was discussed by showbiz host Ogie Diaz on his vlog last October.
Days after Ogie’s video was uploaded, however, the actress was non-committal when she was asked if it was true, invoking her “right to self-incrimination.”
Television host Boy Abunda reached out to Carla seeking confirmation about the engagement, and she answered in the affirmative. She gave Boy the green light to announce the news on his show “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.”
“Napakagandang balita… and we are happy for Carla,” Boy said to begin his show’s December 2 episode, which features actor Paolo Contis.
Carla was previously married to her co-actor Tom Rodriguez. They tied the knot in 2021 but it ended in a highly publicized separation months after their wedding.
Their divorce, with Tom as an American citizen, was honored by the Philippine court last year.
