Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman was forced to leave the game against the Florida Panthers after taking a puck to the face.
During Monday’s rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Finals, the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers were set to do battle. The Oilers were looking for revenge after the Panthers came away with the Game 7 victory last summer.
The team is doing their best, as they are currently up 4-3 in the third period, but had to to do it without one of their star forwards for a bit.
Zach Hyman was forced to leave the game on Monday night after suffering a puck to the face in a scary scene that showed an obscene amount of blood as the forward was rushed to the locker room in serious agony.
It looks like the shot caught Hyman underneath the guard and could have potentially struck his nose.
As of now there is no further update regarding the status or extent of Hyman’s injury however it seems like Hyman was able to push through the pain as he later returned to the Oilers bench; his jersey drenched in blood and wearing a full face mask.
Zach Hyman’s Injury Could Have Been A Disaster

It is a big break for Edmonton that Hyman was able to return to the game as he is one of the team’s biggest offensive catalysts.
This season, the former Maple Leafs forward has 13 points in 25 games; a slower start to the season but is coming off a ridiculous 54-goal season last year, and did miss a bit of time due to injury in 2024-25.
Originally drafted by Florida in 2010, he came over to Toronto in a trade for his rights and broke out in the blue and white.
After being placed on a line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, Hyman grew into one of the league’s best power forwards.
With the Maple Leafs he had 86 goals and 99 assists in 345 games while also setting multiple team records as a rookie.
He signed with Edmonton after he and Toronto were unable to come to an agreement, and he’s been a part of Edmonton’s powerhouse ever since.
It’s a great sign that Hyman avoided injury, as Edmonton can’t afford any more setbacks as they try to get back into the Stanley Cup picture.
