The ‘Shivers’ singer showed up while the group rehearsed Christmas carols.

Ed Sheeran is spreading joy this holiday season.

This week, the music superstar made the day merry and bright for one group of young choir singers after making a surprise appearance in the middle of their rehearsal.

The “Shape of You” crooner was photographed in Ipswich, England, on Monday, Dec. 16, where he showed up at the St. Mary le Tower church to ask the children’s choir if he could listen in on their Christmas carols rehearsals and officially open up their new Song School.

According to a local news outlet, The Ipswich Star, Sheeran, 33, spent his visit bonding with the young kids, listening to their singing and answering questions for them.

“He’s an incredible advocate for the town, and for young people getting into singing,” said the church’s vicar, Reverend Tom Mumford. “He was amazing with our young choristers, listening to them, asking them questions, and answering plenty of questions about Ipswich Town.”

Sheeran was appropriately dressed in Ipswich Town gear, representing the city’s professional football club, of which he is a minority owner. The “Shivers” artist acquired a 1.5 percent stake in the club back in August.

Mumford, who said Sheeran talked about his own experience in choirs, also added, “We’re proud of him as a local lad, and we’re honoured he officially opened our Song School.”

“My hope is that his commitment and work will encourage many more young people to explore singing,” Mumford concluded.
