WNBA power couple DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith were spotted leaving a casino after Game 1 of their first-round playoff clash on Sunday. A fan shared a video on X, formerly Twitter, featuring the Connecticut Sun star and Indiana Fever star walking out of the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut.
DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith were previously teammates at Baylor University and have been in a relationship since 2022. The couple faced each other for the first time in the WNBA playoffs since Connecticut finished third in the season standings while Indiana finished sixth.
Game 1 of the best-of-three series concluded with Carrington and the Sun securing a dominant 93-69 win at home. DiJonai recorded 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and one block in just under 34 minutes of playtime.
Meanwhile, Smith put up one rebound, one steal and one block in just under nine minutes of playtime for the Fever’s losing effort.
WNBA fans react to DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith’s postgame couple moment
After the conclusion of Game 1 of the first-round playoff series between the Connecticut Sun and the Indiana Fever on Sunday, DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith shared a couple moment on the court. Following the final buzzer, Carrington seemingly comforted Smith, who looked disappointed.
Reacting to the moment, fans on X shared their opinion of the couple’s on-court clash in the WNBA playoffs.
“This kinda makes the league awkward. Like how are you supposed to have that fire and passion to play hard and compete when you’re dating your competition,” a fan tweeted.
“I don’t think we realize how crazy the idea of 2 opponents going home together in a playoff series because they’re in a relationship is. This the messiest league ever. Lol,” a fan tweeted.
“It would be the quietest household for the whole series lmao. Might have to sleep in different rooms,” a fan tweeted.
“I think it’s highly unprofessional but it’s hella fun though,” a fan tweeted.
“That’s not fair to them or their teams to play against each other,” a fan tweeted.
DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith are not the only couple playing in the ongoing playoff series between the Sun and the Fever. DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas are also a couple, but they both play for the Sun, making it a simpler dynamic for them.
The Indiana Fever will look to even out the series while the Connecticut Sun will look to sweep as they face each other next on Wednesday for Game 2 of the series.
