Video Surfaces of Connor McDavid Giving Emotional Locker Room Speech

A video has surfaced of Connor McDavid giving a speech to the Oilers locker room after the superstar recorded his 1000th career point.

On November 14th on home ice against the Nashville Predators, McDavid scored a goal off the rush for the milestone point.

After the game, the entire Oilers organization celebrated McDavid’s accomplishment, and the captain was called upon to give a speech to the teammates and the staff.

»To see the way you guys reacted, it means the world to me. I love this team, love this organization. You know the guys that have been here since day one, I love you guys man. The staff, Hairball, Langer I love you guys, and it’s just not possible without you guys. To each and everybody that’s here, to former teammates that aren’t here, nothings possible without you guys. I love you guys.»

– Connor McDavid

It’s truly a great behind the scenes moment to see from McDavid and the Oilers – capturing one of the high points of a player destined for a historic career.

In the background of the video, you can also see the Oilers players and staff wearing custom shirts designed by Draisaitl to celebrate McDavid’s night. All around, it was a great scene.

Connor McDavid Gives Locker Room Speech Thanking the Whole Oilers Organization

There’s little doubt that Connor McDavid will re-sign a long term contract with the Oilers, and seeing a video like this, it looks like McDavid wants to be in Edmonton for life.

McDavid recently sat down for a rare interview on his contract status, and said that he only has the priority of winning, and doing best for his family on his next deal.

The Oilers have a pretty great shot at winning, and McDavid is now clearly settled in the city and with the community in Edmonton.

Especially shouting out the training staff as his day one supporters, it’s clear McDavid’s developed deep relationships here – and has become a great locker room leader.

The Oilers captain is pacing to have another fantastic season this year, with 44 points in 28 games. It’s still not even the best he can either, and the Oilers can still reach a higher gear.
