Stanley Cup Champion, Vladimir Tarasenko had a great story to end his NHL season, winning another cup with the Florida Panthers.

The news of his passing was confirmed by Sports24Ru.com, along with multiple Russian media outlets.

“Andrei Tarasenko is a native of Novosibirsk. In his youth, he was a player for the local SKA, and then for many years he defended the colors of Yaroslavl Torpedo and Togliatti Lada, where he was recognized as the top scorer and most valuable player of the Russian championship. In the 2001/2002 season, Tarasenko returned to his hometown and helped Sibir reach the Super League, scoring 75 points in 67 matches.”

Following a successful career in the KHL, Andrei would join HC Sibir Novosibirsk as part of the coaching staff.

He has been a member of the coaching staff for several years now.

“Andrey Tarasenko raised a wonderful son Vladimir – a world star, the pride of our hockey. His second son Valentin is also a professional hockey player. I offer my deepest condolences to Vladimir and Valentin Tarasenko, all the relatives and friends of Andrei Vladimirovich, the hockey club Sibir, and all Novosibirsk fans.” – Roman Rotenberg, Championat.com

No cause of death for the elder Tarasenko has been announced as of yet, but more as the story develops.

Tarasenko has helped build the family legacy outside of the KHL and Russia, winning his 2nd Stanley Cup in 2024, after his 1st in 2019 with the St. Louis Blues during their Cinderella run.

Vladimir Tarasenko recently signed a 2-year, $9.5 M total contract with the rebuilding Detroit Red Wings.
