Stephen Curry is one of the most well-known National Basketball Association (NBA) players globally. Known as one the greatest shooters of all time, Golden State Warriors’ Point guard has made his presence felt in the music industry, too, thanks to the 100+ name-drops he’s had by artists like Drake, Cardi B, Future, and more.

Sexxy Red’s new track, SkeeYee, is out, and it mentions Curry in one part. In a recent chat, Steph got candid about being name-dropped in songs, his reactions to them, and which are his favorite. Read on to know all he said.

During an interview with Vibe, Steph Curry revealed his reaction to hearing his name drop in Sexyy Red’s viral hit ‘SkeeYee.’ For those who don’t know, in this track, the upstart rapper is heard rapping, “My sister in the backseat with a .30/ N****s tryna shoot they shot, Stephen Curry.” Sharing his reaction to hearing it, the Golden State Warriors superstar said, “When Sexxy Red did it, I just started laughing. I don’t know. I had never seen her at a basketball game.”

Post this name-drop, Stephen Curry revealed that his teammates discovered that his name had been used in over 106 songs. He says, “One of my teammates were asking me the question, ‘How many times do you think your name’s been mentioned in the song?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure there’s probably a website or something that could probably count it for you.’ So he went and looked it up and it was like 106 I think at the time, which was wild to me.”

The basketball star, talking about how he’s always interested in seeing how a rapper finds new ways to use his name in a rhyme, said, “I started thinking about all the ones that I could remember and it’s either a nickname, like Drake did with ‘Chef Curry with the Pot,’ or I think Future dropped one in the song ‘Mad Max.’ It’s funny to see how they rhyme it because either they do a nickname, the short name, they use number 30 or they just go with the whole full name and just try to write something.”

Calling Drake’s ‘Chef Curry’ line from ‘0 To 100’ his favorite, as well as Cardi B’s ‘Be Careful’ where she shouted out Steph and wife Ayesha’s relationship, Stephen Curry said, “Drake’s for sure is my favorite. Drake and Cardi B, surprisingly, because she had the… I think it was the me and Ayesha reference. She’s like, ‘I want to get married like Steph and Ayesha, but we more like Belly; Tommy and Keisha.’”
