On Thursday, Cleveland Guardians fans got a special treat after the newest Superman movie teaser was released. In it, Progressive Field was spotted during the end of the trailer.

In the movie, the Progressive Field will host the “Metropolis Meteors” and looks to be the set for an epic fight scene. Superman comes crashing down with an unidentified antagonist, putting a dent in the outfield grass.

In the James Gunn-directed reboot, Superman is on a journey to reconcile his heritage as a Kryptonian. This will certainly not be the only scene that sees action in the movie that releases in July 2025.

Fans were quick to hop on social media and poke fun at the cameo. Some compared Superman to MLB’s superhero Shohei Ohtani.

“Ohtani is confirmed canon in the new DCU?” one fan posted.

“Most success they will see in decades” said another.

Others joked about Cleveland’s lack of success lately. While continuing to have a positive record for the last 12 seasons, they have not had a ton of postseason success.

The Guardians are coming off a great season. They won the American League Central after finishing with a regular season record of 92-69, staying 6.5 games ahead of the Kansas City Royals.

They have now won the division twice over the last four seasons. Coming into the 2025 season, they should have a good opportunity to take home another divisional title.

For starters, the Chicago White Sox are still rebuilding. They just parted ways with Garrett Crochet recently, leaving Luis Robert Jr. the only star attraction the club has left.

The division will likely be a three-team race, coming down to Cleveland, the Kansas City Royals, and Minnesota Twins. It will be a division fans will want to keep a close eye on.

Cleveland would benefit greatly by making some moves this winter. They could use another starting pitcher to bolster their rotation and another impactful bat.

Do not be surprised if they start getting aggressive here soon. Free agents are starting to sign quickly, leaving the front office to look at potential trades. With a need for another impactful bat, maybe the club phones the White Sox to see what it would take to acquire Luis Robert Jr.
