Recently, Sports Illustrated released its list of the “50 Most Influential Figures in Sports,” and Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid was the only NHL player to make the cut.

He joins a stellar lineup that includes sports legends like LeBron James, Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, Lionel Messi and others, highlighting his significant impact on the world of sports.

While McDavid solely represents the NHL on SI’s list, LA Dodgers Chairman Mark Walter is also included for his contributions to hockey. He played a pivotal role in establishing the PWHL (Professional Women’s Hockey League) last year, which saw tremendous success in its inaugural season.

Connor McDavid’s recognition is well-earned, given his extraordinary skills and performances. During the Stanley Cup final, he showcased his prowess by delivering remarkable four-point games in crucial moments, helping the team to recover from a challenging 3-0 deficit in the series against Florida.

With an impressive tally of 42 points in the postseason, the five-time Art Ross winner ranks among the greatest in NHL history, following in the footsteps of Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.

Despite falling short of lifting his first Cup, McDavid was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP. He became only the sixth player in NHL history to achieve this.

Moreover, in his nine seasons with the Oilers, he has only failed to accumulate 100 points twice. Otherwise, the Canadian has produced 100-point seasons seven times.

As he pursues the coveted Stanley Cup, McDavid aims not only to enhance his legacy but also to inspire future generations of hockey players and fans around the globe.

Connor McDavid is the protagonist in new NHL docuseries

McDavid will be the central figure in Amazon Prime’s upcoming docuseries, “Faceoff: Inside the NHL,” set to premiere on Oct. 4.

The series aims to give fans an inside look into the NHL, featuring exciting behind-the-scenes footage, including memorable moments and a notable scene where McDavid expresses his frustration to his teammates.

The series will provide fans with a sneak peek of the emotional side of the typically calm and reserved player. Meanwhile, Auston Matthews, David Pastrnak, William Nylander, Jeremy Swayman and Leon Draisaitl are the other stars featured in the series.
