He would be re-united with Patrick Kane, who he is much familiar with.
Brooks stated the following:
«Everyone likes head coach Derek Lalonde, but time waits for no man, even an icon such as Yzerman,» Brooks said, stating that Yzerman could have Quenneville «on speed dial» if the Red Wings don’t show progression
The Red Wings lost their season opening game by a score of 6-3 to the Pittsburgh Penguins, despite their heightened expectations with all the new acquisitions.
Joel Quenneville is a three-time Stanley Cup Champion solely with the Chicago Blackhawks, he was once banned following ‘mishandling’ of the scandal occured, he was banned in the 2021 season.
According to Brooks, Quenneville’s ban has been lifted by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman in July of this past summer of 2024, many believe the hiring of Quenneville would be controversial- many must remember that Stan Bowman was hired by the Edmonton Oilers this past summer, who was also apart of the Blackhawks scandal. Brooks mentions if could cause a
“alienate a portion of the fan base and cast a shadow over the organization.”
For Steve Yzerman
Brooks suggests the urgency surrounding Detroit at this very moment, and
“it’s playoffs or bust for the Detroit Red Wings”
The hiring of Quenneville is on the verge for Detroit may be controversial, Brooks states
«It would behoove the Red Wings to get on track early,»
