Fans troll Connor McDavid for posting CCM commercial (Images via CCM Hockey, Connor McDavid IG)
Connor McDavid has been a brand ambassador for CCM since 2012, even before he was drafted into the NHL by the Edmonton Oilers in 2015. In February 2023, the Oilers superstar and the Canadian hockey equipment makers extended their partnership.
McDavid uploaded a promotional post on Instagram, showcasing CCM’s presence in hockey for 125 years. Titled, “We are hockey”, the commercial showed young hockey players aspiring to make an name for themselves while donning CCM gear.
The Oilers superstar has 1.2 million followers on Instagram, and the comments trolled McDavid for posting CCM’s promo video.
Here are some of the best reactions:

At the time of extending their partnership in early 2023, CEO of CCM Hockey, Marrouane Nabih was elated to extend Connor McDavid’s deal with the company and said:
“One of the most talented and accomplished players in the NHL. Connor’s skills make him a true asset to our team, but we are trully honoured to support him in his dedication to the game and to have him as a part of the CCM family.”
As part of their deal, CCM is reported to have made a donation to The Edmonton Oilers Colby’s Kids program, which Connor McDavid supports. The 27-year-old Canadian star adddressed his extended deal with CCM and said:
“I am very happy to continue my partnership with the CCM team, which has supported me since the beginning of my NHL career and all the way back to the beginning of my OHL career.
“CCM has always been a natural choice for me and I feel very comfortable and confident when using CCM products.”
Connor McDavid reviews life in Edmonton away from hockey
Connor McDavid has lived in Edmonton for more than nine years, since the start of his NHL career for the Oilers in 2015.
He married his girlfriend Lauren Kyle, and the couple live together in an Edmonton area, in a mansion that’s featured on Architectural Digest. In 2021, the couple invited AD into their home and gave a detailed dive into each aspect of their home.
During the NHL Media Week in Las Vegas earlier this week, Connor McDavid gave his take about life in Edmonton, when he’s not playing at Rogers Place or the other 31 NHL arenas. He said:
“It’s not the beach and it’s not beautiful weather all the time, but we’re here to play hockey and we’re here to be a part of something and I think guys want to do that.”
Despite initially criticising the Alberta city, the Ontario native lauded Edmonton for being ‘really easy living’.
McDavid pointed out certain bottlenecks, which one experiences in all major cities around the world, but is not the case in Edmonton. He said:
“I think for people that haven’t experienced Edmonton, it’s really easy living. There’s no hour’s drive, there’s no traffic – although the construction could be better (laughs) – but it’s really convenient living. It’s easy living; stress-free living. It checks a lot of boxes for a lot of guys.”
