Martina Navratilova recently defended her close friend, J.K. Rowling, a staunch advocate for separate sex-based spaces for women. The 68-year-old’s comments supported Rowling after a fan called her a “Nazi Freak”, accompanied with some contentious remarks.

A few days ago, Rowling voiced concerns about the safety of women in female-only spaces, like prisons and sports, especially when trans women are included. The 59-year-old backed her point by referencing a report by The Telegraph on X, according to which nearly two-thirds of trans women prisoners are sex offenders.

‘Where’s the evidence trans-identified men ever harm women?’ ‘No sexual predator would EVER dress as a woman to get access to victims.’ ‘Only bigots claim cross-dressing can be a fetish.’ May 2025 be the year we get men out of female prisons, sports and single-sex spaces 🙏.

Rowling, the $1 billion-worth author, has often shared her feminist views and engaged in debates surrounding transgender issues. A fan, seemingly opposed to her remarks, called her a “Nazi freak” and made an inappropriate remark.

However, another user defended the ‘Harry Potter’ author with a lengthy note on X. They pointed out that women generally don’t use their genitalia as tools for sexual violence, unlike men. This distinction challenges the idea that Rowling’s views are transphobic.

“I have never ever used such language on either men or women, even when in all states of fury,” they also wrote this in their reaction.

18-time Major champion Martina Navratilova, who has frequently supported Rowling in such arguments, agreed with the fan and wrote:

“Exactly right. These threats are just awful and not to be taken lightly by these aggressive trans identified males.”

The former World No. 1 pointed out the irony of women expressing concerns about male aggression only to be met with threats.

“Woman says we don’t want to be even close to your aggression and that same woman is then threatened with aggression. Who is the Nazi freak here???” She added.

Martina Navratilova echoed J.K Rowling’s sentiments for latest restriction on women in Afghanistan

WDI.Afghanistan recently reported on X that the Taliban-led government has banned the construction of windows that allow women to be visible in kitchens or courtyards of neighboring houses.

In response, J.K Rowling emphasized that Afghan women deserve respect, autonomy, and dignity, condemning the international community’s failure to take meaningful action against the issue.

“Afghan women are as deserving of respect, autonomy and dignity as every other woman in the world. The lack of meaningful reprisals for the flagrant human rights abuses visited upon Afghan women by the Taliban shames the international community,” she wrote.

In response, Martina Navratilova called the Taliban men ‘evil.’

“I will say it again – All Taliban men are evil,” she said.

Navratilova has long been an advocate for women’s rights, consistently condemning the dire situation and challenges faced by women in Afghanistan.
