Jason erupted for three goals on Monday night, including the game-winner to win the Dallas Stars Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson took to social media (‘X’) to celebrate his brother Jason’s stellar performance in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals – which saw his older brother score a hat trick, including the game-winner.
Against a formidable opponent and the last Canadian team standing, the Edmonton Oilers, Jason and the Dallas Stars surged back from a 2-0 deficit in the first period on the back of Robertson’s three-goal performance.
In the first two games of the series, Jason had tallied a lone assist for his only point, but the entrance of Roope Hintz back into the lineup changed all of that – the Stars scored three goals in a span of 3:33 in the second period to take a 3-2 lead, Jason scoring two of them.
Robertson previously went 10 games without a goal but his scoring touch came at the right time as he gave the Stars a 4-3 lead at 11:54 of the third period when he banked in a shot off Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner to complete his hat trick.
The Robertson brothers have been publicly supportive of one another before, but Nick’s celebration of his brother’s success could be a motivational boost for the Leafs’ 2019 second-round draft pick (53rd overall) heading into a fresh season.
Observing Jason’s accomplishments firsthand could drive Nick to elevate his game, striving for similar successes with the Maple Leafs in the upcoming season. Nick has long been considered one of the Leafs’ top prospects and more recently, a prized depth piece when inserted into the lineup.
Now at 22 years of age, he is coming off his best season as a Maple Leaf. In the 2023-24 campaign, he played in 56 games, more than all of his previous years combined and then some, scoring 14 goals paired with 13 assists for 27 points. As a looming restricted free agent (RFA) many have considered him a player with a plethora of upside and a forward seemingly ready for a breakout season, making a significant impact with the Leafs going forward.
