The Harry Potter films continue to find new fans and entertain audiences to this day. However, the films did a major injustice to one character’s arc.
The Harry Potter films remains a beloved franchise that were incredibly successful for Warner Bros.
Despite all of the success, Potterheads did not like how certain elements and characters were handled.
The Harry Potter franchise has been a significant IP that entertained audiences for many years. In addition to J.K. Rowling’s beloved book series, the films made by Warner Bros were appreciated by fans for sticking true to the spirit of the books and being faithful to them. Lead stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint became household names as Harry, Hermione, and Ron.

All 8 films of the franchise were commercially successful and fans are already looking forward to the return of the franchise in the series format. However, the films did butcher a beloved character from the book that ended up marrying Harry. Fans are still not over how the films wasted Bonnie Wright’s version of Ginny.

Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry Potter films perfectly captured the world and ambiance of Hogwarts and its many eccentricities. The franchise did a great job at mostly sticking faithful to the books while also sprinkling in some new elements with each film. The film series started with 2001’s The Philosopher’s Stone to 2011’s Deathly Hallows Part 2.
There were also various inconsistencies within the films that Potterheads did not appreciate when compared with J.K. Rowling’s books. One character arc that was criminally wasted was of Ginny Weasley played by Bonnie Wright. The books presented Ginny as a dynamic and interesting character who stood on her own and had intriguing adventures compared to the films.
She is confident and in addition to being a skilled witch, is also a talented quidditch player. Her romance with Harry is given significant weight in the books compared to the films which failed to give the character the arc she deserved to show her intriguing personality. On Reddit, fans criticized Ginny’s representation of the big screen and how her romance was Harry felt forced and lame. Here are some of the reactions,
Ginny’s role in the films was also significantly reduced compared to the books (only about 20 minutes in the whole franchise via Entertainment Weekly). There was a gradual evolution of her relationship with Harry in the books (from friends to lovers to a married couple). However, in the films, their relationship came out of nowhere and Radcliffe and Wright unfortunately had little to no chemistry.

Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter in all 8 Harry Potter films. He tasted enormous success and became a big name in the industry from that role. The actor has moved on to some amazing projects that have shown his versatility as an actor. Interestingly, he has not starred in any other franchises since the end of his run on Harry Potter.
In an interview with CBR, Radcliffe revealed that he is not necessarily turning down franchise films. Some have come his way but he was not drawn to the subject matter or felt that it was not for him. He is open to doing another interesting franchise that has strong material. The Harry Potter star said,
I mean, I’m not really [avoiding them]. There’s been a couple of things that I think people were hoping would turn into franchises that I’ve read over the years that weren’t for me. There have been some studio films that just have not been for me, but I’ve not been turning down loads of franchises, either. I don’t want to give that impression. I certainly wouldn’t be averse to doing one again.
Since the end of the Harry Potter films, Radcliffe has impressed fans will his incredible performances in acclaimed projects like The Woman in Black, Swiss Army Man, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and Miracle Workers. Fans can watch all 8 of the Harry Potter films on Max.
