One of the most intriguing names reportedlty available on the trade market is Luis Castillo. The 32-year-old flamethrower of the Seattle Mariners could be made available for the right price as the club looks to use one of their positions of strength to bolster their lineup.

Even though the Seattle Mariners have one of the most exciting young players in the Majors in the form of Julio Rodriguez, the club struggled from an offensive standpoint in 2024. Although Luis Castillo is sitting on a sizable contract, the fact that he would not be considered a rental could go a long way toward receiving a nice deal in return.

It will be interesting to see whether or not the Mariners trade Castillo this offseason, however, he should draw plenty of interest from clubs looking to bolster their rotations. Castillo posted a 3.64 ERA with 175 strikeouts last season and could help nearly every team across the league.

While Triston Casas is often mentioned as a potential chip to move the other way, the Red Sox could look to offload a few prospects as part of the deal as well. Castillo to the Red Sox makes sense, the two sides will simply need to iron out the details.

The Baltimore Orioles are another top contender who could use Luis Castillo’s service in 2025. It looks like the O’s will need to find a suitable replacement for Corbin Burnes, who is the top pitcher on the free agent market. The Orioles have several intriguing young players that could head to Seattle, including Coby Mayo.

Even though Mayo is one of the Orioles’ top young hitters, the club has many hitting prospects that are blocking one another when it comes to playing time. The O’s could use that depth to bring in a proven veteran pitcher like Luis Castillo without skipping a beat.
