If it were five years ago, Justin Verlander would have been on a team. For a pitcher like Verlander, several teams would have already started bidding. Yet, the veteran seems to be coming to the end of his career. Verlander has been a free agent for a long time, and not many teams are turning toward the All-Star.
Many believe that this could be the end of his career, but there is some hope for the pitcher. Due to his age and declining performance, teams have been hesitant. However, the nine-time All-Star might have a chance to play for another year or two.

3. Houston Astros
The Astros look like a long shot for now, given their offseason pursuit of free agents. Houston traded Kyle Tucker and has not shown interest in Alex Bregman. There are a few holes to fill in their starting rotation, and Verlander might be the perfect candidate to lead the pitching squad.
While they might not use him as a primary pitcher, the Astros could use him for guidance. Moreover, the Astros could offer him a one-year contract for the old time’s sake.
2. Detroit Tigers
The Tigers and Verlander have a special connection. It was his first team, and they could look for a possible reunion. The Tigers qualified for the playoffs in 2024. They need more pitchers like Justin Verlander on the team. The veteran pitcher could finish his career where he started and call it an end.

1. Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays have not been shy about exploring options. Toronto can be a perfect fit for Verlander since they need his services more than any other team. The Blue Jays are also predicted to have the money to sign Verlander. Furthermore, Verlander could only secure a two-year deal at the most.
The 41-year-old will not receive a long-term contract from any team. In fact, most teams would offer him a one-year deal. That said, the Blue Jays could wait for things to play out and give Verlander a decent contract. Toronto could also drop their price if no other teams sign him.
As for other free agents, rumors have continued to swirl, and Jurickson Profar is expected to sign with the Padres rival.
