Jeremy Swayman made 40 saves against the Bruins
Jeremy Swayman had a decent display in the Bruins’ 4-3 overtime win against the Panthers. He made 40 saves on the night with a .930 save percentage, including several key stops throughout the game.
When asked about his role and that he stole the game for the Bruins, Swayman credited his whole team for the victory, claiming it a ‘team game.’
“It is a team game, every time the attention of detail in our D zone, even the neutral zone, we didn’t have as many turnovers and and just obviously getting done the offensive zone, it’s all three zones of the ice are taken care of tonight,” he said.
“And you know, my guys are doing a great job of letting me see the first shot, clearing out rebounds and blocking shots as well. So that’s all momentum for us moving forward, and it’s really good to see us get the result.”
Morgan Geekie gave the Bruins an early 1-0 lead on the night with a power-play goal at 6:02 in the first period. Florida responded with a power-play goal of their own at 15:29, as Evan Rodrigues scored to tie the game at 1-1.
In the second period, the Bruins regained the lead when David Pastrnak scored off a pass from Geekie, making it 2-1. However, Sam Reinhart scored just 43 seconds into the third, tying the game 2-2 with a goal assisted by Aleksander Barkov.
The Bruins responded with another go-ahead goal at 2:06 of the third, when Oliver Wahlstrom scored on a loose puck after a shot from Charlie McAvoy. With just 18 seconds remaining in regulation, the Panthers pulled their goalie, Sergei Bobrovsky, for an extra skater.
The move paid off when Reinhart scored his second of the game, a chip shot that sailed over the Bruins defenseman Jordan Oesterle and past Swayman to tie the game at 3-3. In OT, Boston capitalized on a power-play opportunity after Sam Bennett was called for high-sticking. Pastrnak scored the game-winning goal with just two seconds left, finally ending their six-game losing streak.
