The Pittsburgh Penguins signed goaltender Sergei Murashov on a three-year entry-level contract on Tuesday. The team’s president of hockey operations and general manager, Kyle Dubas, announced the signing.

The Penguins’ official account on X (formerly Twitter) shared the signing update.

“Sergei is signed. The Penguins have signed goaltender Sergei Murashov to a three-year, Entry-Level Contract.”

Russian goaltender Sergei Murashov’s impressive MHL stats give Penguins’ a big hope

The Russian goaltender Sergei Murashov, 20, was drafted by the Penguins in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL draft. In the 2023-24 season, he played for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the KHL and various teams in the MHL. He is 6-foot-1 and weighs 172 pounds.

Murashov had a 3-1-2 record, a 1.84 goals-against average, and a .925 save percentage in six KHL games. In the MHL, he posted a 24-4-2 record, a 2.03 goals-against average, and a .930 save percentage over 34 games.

In the KHL, he has a 4-1-2 record in seven games with a 1.71 goals-against average. In the MHL, he has 73 wins and 22 shutouts in 125 games. He was named the MHL’s Best Goaltender for the 2022-23 season.
