The Los Angeles Lakers look to be unable to stem their sudden slump. After enjoying an excellent six-game winning streak, the Lakers have started to lose back-to-back matches. Their latest downfall came against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite enjoying the advantage of playing at home, LeBron James and co. failed to take their team through.
Now, while the 93-101 score is definitely a reason for worry, there is another possibility that has been teased. ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins took to his X account and mentioned that the time might have just arrived for James to hang up his boots. “It’s looking like this just might be Bron’s last season.”
Now, this is quite a significant statement to make. Nearing 40, speculations over James’ retirement have been doing the rounds. James had quite a tough game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. After playing for 34 minutes, King James could muster only 12 points, with 6 assists and 8 rebounds. Meanwhile, teasing his own retirement, LeBron James dropped a subtle hint recently.
LeBron James Adds Fuels To His Retirement Rumors
The Lakers’ star might have been facing criticism for the Lakers’ poor run. However, one look at his stats for the current season will reveal that the 39-year-old is still going strong. The 4x NBA champion has averaged 22.9 points per game, which, in no way, can be termed as a poor run. However, in a recent post from Dave McMenamin, James himself hinted at his possible retirement.
“I’ve been blessed by the man above with some, some ‘Outers World’ ability from the beginning, and then I just take full advantage of it,” said LeBron. “I wasn’t going to disrespect what He’s given me, and see how long I can do it. But I won’t do it till the wheels fall off, I’ll tell you that. I won’t do that, I won’t be one of those guys,” said James. Thus, the NBA run is looking to come to an end for the legend. Now, it remains to be seen if LeBron James can bounce back.
